Mars without a spacesuit
an anthology of poerty written many moons ago in the 1990s
Hot
baking
delicious wind rescues
Birds bird
crows crows
and Cars car past
Hedges rustle
horses clop in the far distance
bells ring
summer heat powerhouse on
mad echoes of hooves clattering roads
They Doppler shift past till gone
slow breathing droplets of sweat
Glare kills gloom
i rest defeated by the late afternoon
Zen
sometimetimes i get very zen
but just when ive got it
its gone again
born astride a grave
what a cosmic rave
just one micro bit of information
there is no separation
flashing in and out of being
eternity in love with creation
we are one harmonic ovation
Won't take the pace of the lemming race
won't listen to the call of the mind thats small
that judas goat press in a politicians dress
don't give me any platitudes cus I'm a lamb with an attitude
we have the right to bleat in the face of media deceit
No in no out
No up no down
We are the ocean in synchronous motion
Yet when separate we are each little drop
plop
Those brilliant stars
Coal black, forever deep sky at night
Cold crisp sharp, those brilliant stars
Shine out
The hunters belt, Orion, the Plough
Familiar friends in winter
Ink black, fractal bare trees, pattern the
Star fields bright lights from the past
Mars was out earlier sitting proud
The Red Planet
Holsts inspiration, and now mine
To think us clever monkeys have sent robot
Ships to probe its secrets, even us Brits have
Have Begal 11, en attendance
Darwin would be pleased
No moon, she is cloaked tonight
On our right another pinhole brilliant light, ohm
A Planet is surmised
Venus, Jupiter?
I gaze in awe and expand into the majesty of space
Where we humans hitch a ride on our blue planet, so alive
Why I self inquire do we have so little respect for our mother ship, it’s a crime
Self harm of the worst kind
Do you ever wonder like me, where you are?
Take a reality check
i know where I am
On a planet, rotating around a fireball of a star in an endless universe
Where are you?
Baby now that’s what I call a ride
All we really have is us, you and me
A pity we have yet to discover
We are just different versions of each other
