An earlier cult of fanatical believers who were willing to commit any acts required no matter how destructive to uphold their confirmation bias in total supremacy of nation socialism 

Free market fanatics attach a monetised value to every one n every thing so it can be traded 

Clearly nothing is free in the free market 

Literally nothing is sacred in this system including people and the planet are just reduced to resources to be exploited 

As anyone who has played monopoly will know who gets 

park lane an other key properties accrues the greatest wealth n wipes out all other players 

That why capitalism is so called

He who controls the greatest capital tends to control the game 

Banks of course hold a key role in this game because they invent on computer screens money on behalf of the government which gives it credibility until as we saw during the 2008 crash 

When confidence evaporated an so did the credibility of banks n the money they had

Interestingly enough the real free market fanatics would have let them collapse until a new banking system emerged 

But the 20 years of government mantras of powerless in the face of global capital also evaporated when the prospect of all the cash machines turning off over the whole country 

Forced them to intervene and create an ocean of invented money 

On behalf of the people to give to banks to stop the lehmen brothers effect  taking down the entire financial system 

The only thing that give any belief system including currency value is confidence no matter how unreal

And ultimately confidence comes from a critical mass of people at any given time 

Even when the severe winds of change destroy a previously fanatical belief system such as the true nazis often they take their core

I had the enlightening but rather dubious pleasure of meeting a very successful film artist of international fame who left nazi Germany's as a young boy for America and ended up in the uk living in Oxford
